Christian Meixenberger to join BCV as head of the Business Support Division

BCV’s Board of Directors has appointed Christian Meixenberger to the Bank’s Executive Board as head of the Business Support Division. Mr. Meixenberger holds an engineering degree and has broad expertise in banking technology and back-office operations. He is currently a member of the Executive Board and head of the Services Division of Banque Cantonale de Fribourg. He will replace Aimé Achard, who has held the position since 2006 and will retire at the end of the year.

 A key strategic role

BCV’s Business Support Division offers comprehensive support services for the rest of the Bank, including IT systems, back-office services for securities and payment transactions, security, facility management and custodian-banking services. Mr. Meixenberger holds an engineering degree and has vast experience in IT and the various aspects of a bank’s back office. He has successfully led projects in IT migration, business process reengineering and cost cutting – giving him the skills needed to meet the challenges of this fast-changing and increasingly complex domain. He is scheduled to take up his position at BCV on 1 January 2017.

Broad tech know-how and recognized managerial skills

Christian Meixenberger, born in 1960, is married and has seven children. He holds a degree in electronic engineering from the University of Neuchâtel and an MBA from the University of Lausanne. From 1987 to 1993, he worked as a software engineer at the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) in Neuchâtel before joining Credit Suisse in Geneva, where he was in charge of business processes and IT. In 1997, he became head of IT at Banque Cantonale de Fribourg. He was then appointed to that bank’s Executive Board as head of the Services Division in 2000.

Sincerest thanks

Aimé Achard, who has successfully headed BCV’s Business Support Division since 2006, will take his retirement on 31 December 2016. During his time at BCV, he has spearheaded various large-scale projects including transferring the Bank’s IT development from IBM to BCV, upgrading the Osiris IT system and developing the Bank’s online banking services. The Board of Directors and the Executive Board commend Mr. Achard for his unwavering commitment and his contributions to the Bank’s development, and express their warmest thanks to him.
