The Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) is a reporting standard established by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) aimed at reducing tax evasion. It enables the tax authorities in participating countries to obtain financial information about their taxpayers' accounts abroad. Switzerland applies the AEOI to foreign taxpayers, and banks in Switzerland began gathering the necessary information for the AEOI on 1 January 2017.
