José François Sierdo to join BCV as head of the Retail Banking Division

BCV’s Board of Directors has appointed José François Sierdo to the Bank’s Executive Board as head of the Retail Banking Division. Mr.Sierdo has more than 20 years of banking experience in Switzerland and abroad as well as in-depth knowledge of the Canton of Vaud. This makes him the ideal person to develop BCV’s retail activities going forward.

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, 12 February 2014 – BCV’s Board of Directors has appointed José François Sierdo to head up the Bank’s Retail Banking Division. He replaces Markus Gygax, who left BCV in November 2013. Mr. Sierdo brings with him vast experience in various areas of the banking business. He began his career in 1993 at UBS, where he held a variety of posts. He then went to work for LombardOdier&Cie from 1998 to 2002, before returning to UBS. At UBS, he held key managerial positions in retail, private and corporate banking and was responsible for managing a large workforce. He also spearheaded numerous business development projects. Mr. Sierdo’s recognized team management skills, natural charisma and excellent knowledge of Vaud’s economic environment make him ideally suited to lead and develop BCV’s Retail Banking Division. He will take up his position on 3 March 2014.

José François Sierdo was born in 1963 and is a Swiss citizen. He holds a masters in economics and business management from the Business and Economics Faculty of Lausanne University and an MBA from IMD business school in Lausanne. He lives in Vaud and has three children.
