BCV’s Board of Directors has appointed Denys Papeil to the Bank’s Executive Board as head of the Business Support Division. Mr. Papeil, who currently leads the Bank’s IT Services Department, will take up his new position on 1 January 2027. He will replace Christian Meixenberger, who will retire on 31 December 2026.

Broad IT experience and recognized expertise in bank information systems

Mr. Papeil, a dual Swiss and French citizen born in 1969, has over 30 years of experience in IT and managing complex information systems. He joined BCV on 1 December 2018 as head of the Bank’s IT Services Department. In this position, which he still holds, he has overseen BCV’s IT environment, evolving it and making it more versatile while at the same time holding down costs. He also successfully led the process of insourcing the Bank’s IT infrastructure from Kyndryl (formerly the IBM Banking Competence Center).

Mr. Papeil holds an engineering degree in information systems and an Executive Certificate in Management and Public Action from the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP). He started his career in 1993 in the French banking sector before moving on to information systems consulting. Between 2002 and 2012, he held leadership roles at Bedag Informatik, the IBM Banking Competence Center, and the Canton of Vaud, driving major organizational and technological transformations at those organizations. From 2012 to 2018, he served as chief information officer for the Municipality of Lausanne.

BCV’s Board of Directors and Executive Board believe that Mr. Papeil is the ideal person to take over responsibility for the Bank’s Business Support Division in light of his extensive expertise in IT systems, his ability to lead complex projects, and his recognized managerial abilities.

Business Support Division

BCV’s Business Support Division comprises IT services, the securities and payments back offices, security, facilities management, and custodian banking. It provides integrated support to the entire Bank.

Warmest thanks to Christian Meixenberger

Christian Meixenberger, who joined BCV on 1 January 2017 as head of the Business Support Division, will retire on 31 December 2026. Under his leadership, the Business Support Division has delivered the entirety of the Bank’s IT, back-office, and logistics services with a high degree of reliability, enabling BCV in turn to deliver high-quality services to its customers. Mr. Meixenberger has also helped BCV keep operating expenses under control, including through his oversight as a member of the Executive Board of the insourcing of the Bank’s IT infrastructure. He was instrumental in proactively implementing numerous advances in digitalization, cybersecurity, and process efficiency across the Business Support Division’s operations. In addition, he has helped to drive the strong growth of the Bank’s custodian banking business. The Board of Directors and the Executive Board offer Mr. Meixenberger their heartfelt thanks for his contribution to BCV’s ongoing growth and success.
