Like a credit card, the new Visa Debit card lets you make online payments. But there are still several advantages that only a credit card can offer. For example:

It’s best to use a credit card to make bookings (hotels, car rentals, etc.), since the amount won’t be directly debited from your account. When you book with a Visa Debit card, the money will be taken out of your account immediately, meaning you’ll have less available for your other purchases.
The daily limit for a Visa Debit card outside the eurozone is CHF 3,000. For larger purchases, you’ll need a credit card.
BCV’s credit cards (Silver Visa/Mastercard®, Gold Visa/Mastercard® and Platinum Visa) come with different kinds of insurance, depending on the card.
