Lausanne, Switzerland, 16 May 2019 – Yesterday the members of the Silicon Valley Startup Camp selection panel convened in Lausanne to choose the ten local students who will be given the opportunity to travel to Silicon Valley this August to cultivate their entrepreneurial spirit.
The application and selection process for the seventh edition of the Silicon Valley Startup Camp, which was first launched by BCV in 2013, was announced starting in March. Some forty students applied in total, and twenty finalists were brought in for interviews. The panel members were very impressed by the diversity and exceptionally high quality of the applications and by the candidates’ enthusiasm.
In the end, six women and four men showing particularly high potential were picked. Two of the successful candidates are from the École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), three from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), one from the Vaud School of Management and Engineering (HEIG-VD), and four from the University of Lausanne’s Faculty of Business and Economics (UNIL/HEC). This clearly shows that there is a budding entrepreneurial culture throughout the Canton’s higher education institutions.
The successful candidates for 2019 are:
- Luca Baudino, aged 24, EHL
- Livia Buergi, aged 24, EHL
- Jad Hanna, aged 18, EPFL
