The following improvements have been made to BCV-net:
If you’re already signed up for text-message alerts and notifications, you can opt to receive a text message whenever a payment is not properly executed (owing to insufficient funds, payment cancellation or rejection by the beneficiary’s financial institution). This free service allows you to take care of any payment problems immediately.
IBAN stands for international bank account number. It is the standard 21-digit account-number format for cross-border payments. This format has been used internationally for some time and is now also used within Switzerland. Eventually, the IBAN will completely replace traditional bank account numbers.
On BCV-net, your account number will now be displayed in IBAN format. Your IBAN is also shown on your Maestro card and your account statements. We recommend that you start entering account numbers in IBAN format for all payment orders. You should also indicate your IBAN in bills that you issue, to ensure proper payment.
Within Switzerland, there is currently no extra charge for executing payment orders when the account number is not entered in IBAN format. This may change, however. By starting to use the IBAN format for all payments now, you’ll be fully prepared for the day that it is required.
As a general rule, it's also a good idea to use the IBAN format for account numbers entered into standing orders and payment templates on BCV-net.
In the various payment lists, you can now calculate the total amount of all payments over a given period. You can also use this service to ensure that you have sufficient funds for pending payments.
