The Vaud Cantonal Government, in accordance with its responsibilities under the cantonal law governing BCV, has appointed Jean-Luc Strohm to the position of Vice-Chairman of BCV's Board of Directors. This decision confirms the recommendation submitted by BCV's Board. Mr. Strohm, who is already a Board member, will assume his new position on 1 January 2008.
Lausanne, Switzerland, 26 September 2007 – This decision follows the announcement of current Vice-Chairman Paul Hasenfratz's intention to resign from the Board as of 31 December 2007. Mr. Hasenfratz’s seat on the board was subsequently filled, with the appointment of Stephan Bachmann. As for the vice-chairmanship, the Board of Directors recommended that this position be awarded to Mr. Strohm in view of his many years of experience and wide-ranging expertise in the banking field.
Mr. Strohm, a Swiss citizen, was born in 1941 in Lausanne. He holds degrees in law and economics from the University of Lausanne. After a career at UBS spanning 30 years, he left to head up the Vaud Chamber of Commerce and Industry from December 1993 to June 2005. He also acted as chairman of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Switzerland. Mr. Strohm is married and resides in La Croix-sur-Lutry.
BCV welcomes the appointment of Jean-Luc Strohm, confident that his past experience as a Board member will contribute to his success as Vice-Chairman.
