BCV: The first Swiss bank on Second Life

BCV is pleased to announce its presence on Second Life. As part of its innovative communications strategy, BCV will use its island on Second Life as a showcase for its products and services and to display selected works from its art collection. In addition, BCV is making land available to local businesses and associations in the hope that its island will become a virtual home for Switzerland's French-speaking community on Second Life.

Lausanne, Switzerland, 9 February 2007 – BCV's building on Second Life is an open and welcoming place where visitors can learn about BCV's products and services. The building, designed by Lausanne-based artist Ronald Juliet, will also host regular exhibitions of works from BCV's art collection.

BCV cordially invites companies from Vaud Canton and the rest of French-speaking Switzerland to join the Bank. As the local community on and around BCV’s island grows, it will become an increasingly enriching place to visit.

BCV has long been a pioneer in internet banking. In 1999, BCV created e-SIDER.COM, one of Switzerland's first online trading platforms. Today, BCV continues to innovate by establishing a presence on Second Life, putting it at the center of what promises to be a major source of new ideas going forward.

BCV has been a member of Philias, the Swiss network of socially responsible companies, since November 2006. With its Second Life initiative, BCV can now extend this approach to the virtual world of social computing as the internet moves toward the more fully interactive “Web 3.0” paradigm.

Ronald Juliet ( alias Nathaniel Nykvist at BCV Group in Second Life) designed the island and BCV's building. A multimedia artist in the Lausanne region, Mr. Juliet works in the field of traditional and digital 2D/3D illustration. He is currently completing a short 3D animated film for children on the dangers of poor eating habits. Mr. Juliet is also a musician, and recently recorded the slide-show soundtrack for the O bjectif photoreportage exhibition now on display at the Lausanne Historical Museum.
